Rotolight

Rotolight AEOSThe Rotolight Anova PRO 2 is making its North American debut at NABShow 2018. The LED is a pioneering continuous light and High-Speed Sync (HSS) flash that redefines the standard for professional studio and location lighting.  The Anova PRO 2 is one of the brightest LED lights ever launched in its class, delivering 10,700 lux at three feet. The light also provides the best power to consumption ratio in the industry, and with a mere 72W consumption, reduces operating costs for TV studios, while providing unrivaled battery performance on location.

The Rotolight AEOS, now features a High-Speed Sync (HSS) Flash and continuous LED light that’s now integrated with the Elinchrom Skyport 2.4Ghz HHS wireless flash receiver.  The addition of the wireless flash receiver eliminates the need for a standalone flash receiver and ensures rock-solid reliability and flexibility for controlling multiple off-camera lighting setups. It also enables users to wirelessly control the color temperature and brightness of every light in the setup, saving time on shoot.  AEOS provides the ‘shoot what you see’ benefits of continuous light, and the flexibility of HSS flash (1/8000th sec.) with 200% flash output, whenever users need more power or to freeze action.  Unlike traditional strobe, AEOS has no recycle time, which ensures users never miss a shot, making it the perfect light choice for today’s modern high-frame-rate-capable cameras. Skyport enables users to wirelessly control up to 10 lights, in four groups at up to 650ft with the new Rotolight HSS transmitter. This feature will also enable mixed light setups, for example with the AEOS as a key-light and the award-winning NEO 2 as a backlight, from a single transmitter.

LiteGear

LiteGear showed the benefits of their new CineMitter series of applied phosphor LEDs. Exclusive to LiteGear, these new emitters set the standard for cinematic, color-correct LED lighting. Efficient, and full-spectrum, these LED chips offer state-of-the-art output with a 40% increase in brightness over VHO Pro. Another distinct feature of the CineMitter is the extended Kelvin range. LiteGear pushed the lower CCT to 2600 degrees Kelvin (K) allowing for candlelight or deep-tungsten output while increasing the CRI to a staggering 95+ — that’s nearly indistinguishable from traditional incandescent sources! On the cool side, the CCT was pushed up to 6000K to better balance for overcast sky or cool white fluorescents. This increase in CCT still achieves a CRI of 95+ and provides beautiful, full-spectrum daylight. CineMitter is now standard on LiteMat S2, LiteMat+ Plus, LiteTile — and coming soon to LiteRibbon.

Speaking of LiteMats, the new LiteMat+ Plus series of LED light fixtures is the ideal luminaire for set lighting and rental company inventories. LiteMat+ Plus incorporates everything you love about LiteMat, features the new CineMitter, and adds some distinctly new features. The most notable change is the PL7 locking connection system, which happens to be the same for every size of LiteMat+ Plus, and the new LiteDimmer+ Plus series of dimmers with built-in camera battery mounts.

LiteDimmer Universal is a professional, cinema-grade, icker-free, LED DMX dimmer. This standard capacity (8A total), o ers both manual and remote dimming in one. The LiteDimmer Universal is designed to work with Single, Hybrid, RGB, and RGBW/A LiteRibbon, has an operating voltage from 12VDC to 48VDC, and allows for adjustable PWM. LiteDimmer Universal-W offers all of the same features of the Universal dimmer but adds the feature of built-in wireless DMX. Using genuine LumenRadio CRMX technology ensures compatibility with LumenRadio CRMX and Wireless Solution W-DMX transmitters.

LiteGear also presented a check for $7750 representing a percentage of the profits from sales of their new flagship fixtures, LiteMat+ Plus, to support the Behind the Scenes Charity.

Upon presenting the check, LiteGear CEO, Al DeMayo, stated “We are very proud to be part of such a great charity. The support for entertainment industry members is an admirable cause that LiteGear can really get behind.”

Tobin Neis of the BTS Foundation Board of Directors commented, “Behind the Scenes is thrilled to have LiteGear as a part of our Pledge-a-Product program and for their first year they and their customers have made a wonderful contribution that will go far to help entertainment technicians in times of crisis.”

DeSisti

At LDI this year DeSisti showed redesigned and upgraded versions of their popular lighting line.  Their SoftLEDs have been re-engineered so that the fixtures have a smaller profile for low ceiling studios & location use. Reflectors have been eliminated and now use an aluminum extrusion for the housing giving a compact yet rugged design.  The original remote phosphor technology has been replaced with fixed white chips,  affording the fixture 50% more output while retaining CRIs greater than 95. All four sizes of the new SoftLED are available in fixed daylight, tungsten, or variable white (2700K – 6500K).

DeSisti has also added the F4.7 into our line of 6″ & 10″ Variable White (2700K – 6500K) fresnels. This is our 650W tungsten / 200W HMI equivalent.

The fresnel line features upgraded the chips in several of the LED Fresnels: the F10 chip has been bumped up from 165W to 181W making it a true 2K Tungsten/700W HMI equivalent. The F14 has been bumped up from 365W to 400W giving outputs equivalent to a 3K Tungsten / 1.2K HMI and introduced the F14 High Power which uses a 600W chip giving outputs equal to a 4K Tungsten / 1.8K HMI.

DeSisti also showed a line of Track Mount fixtures, using the same track as other manufacturers.  The 3″ Piccoletto, F4.7 Fresnel and SoftLED 1 units make a great solution for light labs, teleconferencing, non-traditional studio spaces, and museum applications.

Cineo

Cineo has added yet another powerful creative tool to the lighting professional’s arsenal – the Standard 410. Combining their award-winning white-light quality with innovative saturated-color technology, the Standard 410 delivers up to 25,000 lumens of beautiful, easily controllable, full-gamut light.

Boasting a substantial 2’ x 1’ diffused illuminating surface, the Standard 410 is perfectly sized for use in the studio or out in the field. With a maximum power of 410 watts and weighing in at less than 27 lbs., this fixture offers a unique combination of convenience and capability.

Creating beautiful light within an extended color gamut is only part of the story. Cineo has developed an intuitive control strategy that allows predictable, repeatable results, either using the graphical control panel or remotely with wired or built-in wireless CRMX control.

The strategy is simple – four controls or four DMX channels control the entire fixture in a single mode of operation:

Dim – Cineo’s Photo-Accurate Dimming™ maps the 0-100% dimming curve to actual camera stops for precise output control using the MASTER control locally or on the first DMX channel.

CCT – For color-accurate white light, choose the CCT as you would with any Cineo fixture, using the CCT rotary control or the second DMX channel.

Saturation controls the amount of saturated color to be added to the white light, from full white to fully saturated color, managed on the third DMX channel.

Hue – To optionally add saturated color, the HUE control adjusts the hue, the color of which is displayed on the control panel, or managed on the fourth DMX channel.

With Standard 410, the same color shading can be achieved regardless of the CCT used for photography. For example, +2 Green added to 3200K CCT will look the same as +2 Green at 5600K to the correctly white-balanced camera.

In addition to our proprietary phosphor-converted white light LEDs, we developed phosphor-converted saturated color LEDs. These work with the phosphor recipes in the white LEDs to create a balanced, natural-looking spectrum featuring Cineo’s deep-red color rendering technology. The saturated color LEDs use the exact same dies as the white LEDs, so all light emitting elements of the Standard 410 carry identical thermal stability, and perform over time with identical differential aging. So after years of service, color stability remains consistent.

DeSisti | Coemar

DeSisti showed several exciting new fixtures for the types of small studio spaces which are increasingly common as more and more clients move to in-house content creation to feed social media.

DeSisti PiccolettoThe Piccoletto is a 30W, 3” LED Fresnel with an impressive 15-80 degree zoom.  Available in tungsten or daylight and a CRI of 95+, this tiny unit weighs 2.5 pounds and is also available as a track mount fixture.  When used with track, control can be via DMX using the power + data track which is becoming increasingly common or optional Bluetooth control using the Casambi app.  There is also a variable-white color temperature unit coming early next year.

DeSisti Soft LED 1The Soft LED 1 is a 60W remote phosphor LED softlight.  Shipping in Q1, this unit will offer similar configurations as the Picolletto and provides the even, soft, wrapping light that has made remote phosphor fixtures so popular.

DeSisti has also added the option of mounting their existing, larger F4.7 Fresnel fixtures to power + data track for spaces requiring higher output or a longer throw than the Piccolletto.

Coemar showed finalized versions of their RGBW LEDko and SoftLite fixtures as well as the LEDko EXT Exterior LED Profile.

The LEDko was shown with a 28-40 degree zoom optic producing a very flat field.  The individual LEDs making up the illuminator have been chosen for their color range and even mixing.  LEDko units are also available in fixed color temperature white at 3200k and 5600k at a CRI of 92 and an optional Studio version with a CRI of 97.

The LEDko EXT marries the above with a sleek, IP65 rated aluminum housing for outdoor use.  Adjustments to focus, gobo, and shutters are manual and made by removing the front section of the barrel.

Coemar SoftLite RGBWCoemar also showed their SoftLite RGBW LED wash unit.  With a 120-degree field, this 250W unit is a capable wash light for large areas.  The LEDs are shielded behind a frosted acrylic panel which eliminates the pixelation sometimes seen with this type of larger unit.  The addition of an asymmetric reflector further improves its use as a cyc light.  The combination of the wide angle and high output mean that it should be possible to reduce the overall number of fixtures required for many installations.

Kinotehnik

kinotehnik PractiliteKinotehnik has introduced the Practilite 602. The 602 is a versatile bright LED Fresnel lighting fixture that comes with an app for smartphones and is Bluetooth capable. This remote function is cost-effective and useful for single-person shooters or small crews when a gaffer is not available.
