Updated for 2017 the entire range of the TITAN console line was on display.
SAPPHIRE TOUCH- The flagship console of the Avolites line is a high-performance console with more submasters, flash and executor buttons, and power to control the large shows than ever before. 45 motorized touch-sensitive playbacks, 15.6” touch screens for programming, 8 physical DMX and up to 16 over ArtNet or streaming ACN and a built-in battery back up make this desk ready for the road. Should you really need it you can also connect to Titian Network processors for up to 64 universes of DMX. Remember when we all used to think that was crazy? For additional live control, you can connect up to 2 Sapphire Touch wings to each sapphire Touch. There is an expandable fixture library for up to 14,000 devices, there are 20 programmable macro buttons, and MIDI in and through. The Screen is also articulating, it’s just a small touch that makes it a very adjustable console.
The ARENA desk is uniquely suited for festival applications but just as at home in other music venues and theatres. This console has a brand new optical output for enabling fiber connections directly to the console, eliminating signal loss over the long runs to FOH, essential for low latencies in large outdoor venues. The Arena has a main display and a touch screen for extra workspace, there are also 6 LCD display screens with legends for the 30 faders for easy labeling. This desk also has a built-in UPS and can be used in a master, backup situation, or allowing for multiple programmers to work simultaneously before the mail console takes charge.
Think of this console as a Tiger Touch II with a wing. It does have more bells and whistles but on the surface it is basically the same.
Tiger Touch II- One of the best thing about the Titan line of consoles is that no matter which console you are using you have access to the same software. The Tiger Touch II has the same great features, 4 physical DMX universes, with up to 16 over ArtNet or streaming CAN. If you are using Titan Networking you can expand up to 64 universes. I never ever thought we would need that many but I have seen the jobs that do so let’s not pretend they aren’t out there. With 10 playback faders, 20 executor buttons and 3 encoders programming is quite efficient. You can add a Tiger Touch Fader Wing to add to you playback options.
Quartz – Is the mobile version of the Titan software. A compact console that you can put in your brief case and carry with you anywhere you need to go. If you want add a Mobile Wing to add some programming and playback functions.
There is always the Titan 1 the entry-level version. The USB Dongle allows the user to output one line of DMX with the full functionality of AVOLITE Titan software.
Now that most any medium to large show includes some sort of video, media servers have become an integral part of a show. Bring in Avo’s AI v10 Media Server- AI is a powerful media server, we all know how important the power of your media server is no matter how good your content. You have to have a program that you can use and will be rock solid. AIv10 of AI has added some great features. There is a fully redesigned timeline. Add tracks for each layer of each screen fixture and drag content to the track. Then attribute and control tracks can be added, which are easy but precisely edited all within the one interface. Once some layers are controlled via the timeline, it’s still possible to perform live with other layers simultaneously – great for live music, but also for corporate events where the goalposts can move at any time.
In V10 of AI the designers have worked hard to make the user interface very intuitive and easy to use. Their goal is to address the concerns some user’s regarding the interface. The team at AI have implemented an overhaul of the icons used in the program and will continue to improve the interface.
V10 also bring Projective Keystone, also known as Mesh-Warp. It applies a projective keystone which stops a straight line from warping or curving. This is especially helpful when technicians have little time on site.
NOTCH- is a new way to build and record your effects. Once you have the effect you want, export it as a “Notch Block” and load it in AI. AI will then run the block and send the generation to what layer you select.
NDI (Network Device Interface by New Tek)- Sending a 4k video from machine A to machine B is now a breeze. Use NDI to send video over Ethernet, you can send large amounts of video data quickly and accurately. AI supports 8 inputs of NDI which do not require any additional hardware, as long as something sends NDI then AI V10 can receive it.

Virtuoso Acoustical Shell (with or without Transcend Active Acoustics)
Virtuoso is an acoustic shell that creates a virtual experience with an active system of microphones, speakers and digital signal processors instead of relying on the mass of a composite wooden structure. Essentially this system acts as a feedback monitor for all the musicians onstage, providing a uniform acoustical experience which
Virtuoso can either stand alone to improve the sound on stage or be paired with Transcend Active Acoustic System to create a full-venue solution for optimal acoustics, from the stage all the way through back of the house. Transcend’s active acoustics algorithm results in a system requiring fewer microphones and speakers to provide a more reliable and stable system. This allows for streamlined, lower-cost installations than other systems on the market, and the best possible acoustic experience for any seat in the house
For facilities with limited storage, a ceiling/rigging system without structural capacity for a heavy wooden structure, or a lack of resources to set up and remove a shell on stage, Virtuoso provides a unique previously unattainable solution
The Maestro Acoustical Shell delivers impressive full-stage acoustics while creating live entertainment environments for performances at an affordable price. Maestro is packed with features, conveniences and performance aesthetics.
Maestro has been redesigned with construction and design improvements, providing a cost-effective solution for any performance space requiring an acoustical enhancement. It features mobile towers and rows of ceiling panels that form a full stage acoustic enclosure when placed together on stage. A separate wheeled mover easily lifts and moves the towers.
It can be easily configured to accommodate groups of varying sizes. Maestro’s counterweighted wall towers ensure stability and safety. And the design saves space since the individual towers nest together when not in use.
The Maestro line comes in a variety of configurations, offering an economical solution in comparison to Wenger’s top of the line, highly customizable Diva Full-Stage Acoustical Shell.

The Multiverse Module is a tiny circuit board mounted device for lighting manufacturers that allows them to utilize all of the benefits of a wireless lighting system built directly into their fixture – ask your favorite manufacturer if this is of interest to you!
Hot on the heels of last year’s DMX Kegerator, at the home of Dr DMX this year, not only could you duel your friends in a Battle-Bot style arena with balloon-popping robots controlled by lighting consoles (I chose the Gio over the Apathy and Avolight options), but the Hawaiian shirt crew was showing several new products, including the E2E. The “Ethernet to Ethernet” interface is a lighting protocol conversion device with support for four universes of data. The input and output connections may use completely separate networks simultaneously, or transmit and receive on the same network using a switch. An internal web server provides configuration options on each port. The in and out ports may be configured to use E1.31 sACN, draft sACN, Artnet, Strand Shownet, and KiNeT. Universe numbering may be selected for each of the individual four channels. DHCP or IPv4 fixed addressing may be set individually on input and output. I know we’ve all had to reconfigure our sACN network for that ONE Artnet-only device. This is your get-out-of-jail-free card.
Also of particular interest was the new Decelerator featuring a “choose your speed” option (slow, medium, fast), as well as a bypass mode making this a true 1-to-1 opto-isolator.
Fleenor has also updated their relay pack with an Ethernet native option. Milton was very proud to have included most of the custom options he has cooked up over the years in the base model of this new version – such as momentary mode, latch lock, threshold setting, to name a few.
Tomcat had on a display a prototype model of their new Nemesis pre-rig truss. Simply rig your moving light to their aluminum bar, slide it into the open end of the truss and lock it into place with any of the 4” on center holes for consistent, even spacing. Thomas offers dollies that insert into both ends of the truss for transport, as well as shop stands to keep the ends open for fixture loading without worry of the truss sliding away during pre-rig.
As you would expect, Tomcat also displayed their numerous truss solutions, everything we’ve come to expect from them over the years – collapsible box truss, bolt end, spigoted, swing truss – all the good standbys.
Lectrosonics was featuring their Duet IEM System – 24-bit digital audio, low latency, and a compact, lightweight, diversity bodypack unit. The new system consists of the M2T dual-stereo half-rack transmitter and M2R diversity belt pack receiver. Utilizing UHF frequencies between 470-608 MHz (138 MHz) in a single range, digital modulation for transmission, and can accept analog or Dante™ digital inputs. The new system can be considered a “wireless IEM” or a deluxe IFB product, designed and developed with professional touring, installation, theater, filmmaking and broadcast customers in mind. The compact nature of the M2T ½-rack transmitter means that up to four dual-channel carriers can be sent from 1RU, resulting in either 4 stereo audio feeds or up to 8 mono audio feeds.
Also of interest was the HH Digital Hybrid Wireless Handheld Transmitter. The HH incorporates many advanced features to provide high-quality speech and vocal reinforcement. Along with peerless audio quality with wide frequency response and dynamic range in native 400 Series mode, the technology used in the HH includes compatibility modes for Lectrosonics 200 Series, 100 Series and IFB receivers, and some systems from other top manufacturers.
