LitePanels

lp-astra-softLitepanels showed their new Astra 1X1 Soft Bi-Color. This fixture is available exclusively in Bi-Color and gives you the output of a soft light but in a flat panel form factor. It has a higher intensity, and with this soft light, you get a much wider area than what you usually get from a single fixture – output is comparable to a 2K Tungsten or 575W HMI.

Litepanels also showed their new product, ‘Manfrotto, Powered by Litepanels’.  This is a series of on-camera (Spectra 2, MicroPro 2 and Croma 2) and half-panel LED lights (Lykos). The Croma 2 is a bi-color light that takes the potential of the original Croma and doubles the output, achieving twice the brightness of the original using Sony manfrotto-on-camL-Series Batteries. The Micropro 2 is a daylight LED solution that also manages to achieve twice the brightness of the original Micropro whilst powered by a Sony L-Series Battery.  The Spectra 2 doubles the performance and brightness of its predecessor, making it a fantastic value for photo and video professionals seeking an efficient, portable lighting solution.  The Lykos Bi-Color and Daylight fixtures are the flagship product of the series and have the ergonomics to be operated with one hand. This unit is as bright as the original Litepanel 1×1 and half the size.

Ayrton / Morpheus

Morpheus the exclusive US distributor of Ayrton products revved up their digital lighting portfolio with number of additions.

magicpanel-fx-cMAGICPANEL-FX is an exciting new multi-function luminaire with a front face comprised of a 5×5 array of squared lenses designed to create 2D and 3D effects. A 15:1 optical zoom system with no visible external moving parts creates variable beam angles from 3.5° to 52°. These zoom optics are capable of projecting everything from tight shafts of light to a wide wash, and produce a solid beam of light that “squares off” as it separates into a stunning patchwork of colors. This flexible unit can be used for pixel mapping, as a powerful special effects projector, and as a wash light.

MAGICBURST Ayrton’s spinning 240,000 lumen strobe is the industry’s first high-power graphic LED strobe with continuous, unlimited rotation on both pan and tilt axes. The 15”x15” face supports 3,840 high-output white LEDs grouped into 64 pixels in an 8 x 8 matrix. The strobe duration, speed and intensity of each 60-LED pixel can be individually controlled to create brilliant and breathtaking stroboscopic effects and graphic arrays. A library of fixed images and pre-programmed dynamic effects are accessible from fixture memory. With a new, state-of-the-art ultra-compact, 1,300-watt power supply, MagicBurst delivers peak light output of over 240,000 lumens – perfectly calibrated at 5600K – for a duration of several seconds.

MAGICDOT-XT is a larger version of the award-winning MAGICDOT-R, which scales the beam diameter up and narrows it down. The fixture is equipped with Ayrton’s new, proprietary 5″ diameter optic that projects an impressive 2º beam with a center-beam intensity of 580,000 candelas.

MAGICDOT-SX is an optically evolved, multipurpose variant of the highly acclaimed MAGICDOT-R with the same form factor and dimensions, featuring ultra-fast beam movement and continuous unlimited rotation on pan and tilt. The fixture is equipped with a revolutionary new 8:1 optical zoom that has a fixed transmitting lens, no visible moving parts and a range of 5° to 40°. The short-stroke of the MAGICDOT-SX zoom system allows the fixture to switch from intense beam mode to sweeping wash mode virtually instantaneously.

German Light Products (GLP)

BLP GT-1The GT-1 from GLP is a true hybrid fixture incorporating an optical design that doesn’t require different ‘modes’ to activate Spot, Beam, and Wash characteristics, so all feature functionality is available at any time. The GT-1 uses a high powered 470 Watt discharge lamp and features an impressive 22:1 ratio zoom range from 2.5° to 55°. Other features include wireless DMX control, full 16-bit pan and tilt movement, full range dimming and shuttering capability, an installed battery for fixture setup, auto-sensing power supply all weighing in at only 55 lbs

As a spot, the GT-1 offers a wide range of effects, including CMY color mixing, eight rotating gobos, 14 fixed pattern gobos, additional beam reduction gobos, and a variable speed animation wheel that can be repositioned within the beam, three different rotating prisms, and a fixed color wheel with CTO/CTB filters.

Looking for a beam? the GT-1 produces a parallel beam of light at 2.5° through its large 145mm diameter front lens, which remains bright and consistent over long distances. For a wash, the GT-1 produces a soft edged beam from a variable filter that can be inserted into the beam to give the desired level of wash that you wish.

GLP X4 AtomLDI saw the release of the upgraded 30 Watt version of their popular X4 atom fixture. Adding a new high power 30WRGBW LED source into the unit has doubled its brightness, and created greater optical efficiencies. The unit offers a 9 to 1 ratio zoom that goes from a wide 34° wash down to a tight 3.5° beam for pinpoint accuracy and great mid-air effects.

When a single X4 atom just isn’t enough, a fast interlock system allows fixtures to easily be coupled together. The standard yoke is removed for quick assembly of pairs, quads, lines and grids of fixtures in any configuration that you need.  The X4 atom runs from an external power supply, with a 6-way and a 12-way option available that feeds fixtures via an industry standard 4-pin XLR cable.

OSRAM

OSRAM HMIOsram continued to add a new level of safety to their HMI line by adding their patented UVS quartz outer jack some of their higher wattage HMI lamps. This new technology will replace the existing non-UVS lamps and reduces UVB and UVC emissions up to 99,9 %. UVS not only extends the life of fixture components, it also protects film crews and talent from UV radiation. Most importantly, HMI lamps equipped with UVS achieve these benefits without compromising performance. The unique orange base of the re-engineered lamps indicates the UVS envelope.

HMI Studio Metal HalideOsram also presented their new HMI Studio Metal Halide series with a 3200 K color temperature. The new CTO color temperature will allow an HMI fixture to match existing incandescent fixtures on stage, film set or on location without the need for gel, greatly simplifying the setup processes and elimination the need for redundant lamps and fixtures. The CTO is baked right into the quartz outer envelope and will not fade over the life of lamp.

Osram PhaserAlso showed a version of their white light laser technology.  After successfully being introduced into the field of medicine and the automotive industry, laser technology is now set to revolutionize the entertainment market. The Osram PHASER, which will be shown at the company’s booth at LDI, stands for phosphor and laser, and is combined to create light with high luminance, which has the potential to replace many light sources which are currently used with lamps in various fields of application.

LynTec

LynTecLyntech was showing enhancements to their RPC platform at LDI.

The panels make it possible for LynTec customers to add more circuits in the same horizontal wall space to control a greater number of components, as needed. Taking advantage of a change in the National Electrical Code, the RPC panels support 48, 66, and 84 circuit breaker positions. Previously, RPC panels were available only with 30 or 42 circuit breaker slots. Customers have incremental options between the 30- and 84-position panels with no increase in width. All RPC panels leverage the RPC controller’s ability to address up to 168 motorized circuit breakers. The new panels are also available as main lug only (MLO) and main circuit breaker (MCB) in 225, 400, and 600-amp interiors.

Also new to the RPC family of control panels is the capability to add dimming control. This new feature is being demonstrated for the first time at LDI 2016. LynTec has combined breaker/relay switching with 0-10VDC dimming in a single RPC panel for DMX512 or streaming ACN (E1.31, sACN). This now allows analog low-voltage dimming and power on/off switching for each controlled individual DMX or sACN channel and line voltage circuit. Up to 64 0-10VDC dimming positions can be combined in a breaker or relay panel. The new feature and hardware seamlessly work together through LynTec’s popular and easy-to-use built-in web server.
