What was interesting to see was their new Pointman “S” Model 1/4 Ton (250 Kg) capacity unit, which unlike most of its competition offers internal geared limit switches and an optional second brake, all of which can be contained within its regular sized housing.
Unlike its competition, the industry standard lifting speed of 16 feet per minute and true 250 Kg working load capacity are maintained in both three phase (180V to 500V) and single phase units (110V or 220V). Due to a new and unique profile load chain a 1/4T unit, fitted with 60ft height of lift and fitted with limit switches, weighs less than 35 Lbs complete, which is 25% less than some competitors similar capacity products.
Pointman’s line of hoists already have an impressive factory standard IP65 ingress protection rating can now be improved all the way to an industry beating IP67 on the 1/2T, 1T and 2T capacity units. This rating, assuming the addition of suitable electrical connectors, allows the unit to be fully submerged under water to a depth of 1m for a period of 30 minutes. This feature is now made possible via the optional addition of a low cost Gore brand vent that allows the equalization of pressure within the sealed hoist. This feature, used in conjunction with the standard characteristics of fully sealed end covers, water tight cable glands and a factory installed load sheave drain now give the Pointman the highest possible IP rating of any conventional electric chain hoist in the entertainment technology market.
