With all the excitement about new products, it’s always hard to find space in the Arri exhibit at NAB. All for good reason. Arri debuted a new addition to their range of L-Series LED Fresnels, and introduced us to a new LED softlight.
The L10-C, big brother to the L7-C color tunable LED Fresnel, sports a 10” lens, 15-50 degree beam angle, and a full RGBW color gamut with Hue and Saturation control allowing for variable color temperature between 2,800-10,000K. This 400W LED Fresnel is DMX controlled with smooth dimming from 0-100%. Arri’s biggest and brightest LED offering, the L10 provides a viable LED fixture option for where only 2kW tungsten Fresnel previously dared to tread. Additional units in the L-Series are the L5, and L7 which are available in –C (color mixing), -T Tunable Tungsten (2,600-3,600K) and –D Tunable Daylight (5,00-6,500K). *L10-C is available in May 2015 with the L10-T and –D available 3rd quarter 2015.
Bringing back a softlight to the lighting lineup Arri introduced SkyPanel – a compact, ultra-bright and high-quality LED soft light SkyPanel is initially available in two sizes: the S60 and S30. The S60 is a midrange model, featuring a light aperture of 645 x 300 mm and similar to the 2K Zip of old. The S30 is a smaller, more portable version. Both models are available in fully color tunable and remote phosphor versions. Like the L-Series, SkyPanel ‘C’ (Color) versions are fully tunable; correlated color temperature is adjustable between 2,800 K and 10,000 K, with excellent color rendition over the entire range. Full plus and minus green correction can be achieved with the simple turn of a knob, and in addition to CCT control, vivid color selection and saturation adjustment is also possible. Brighter than a 2 kW tungsten soft light or a 6 kW tungsten space light, the SkyPanel S60 has more than enough light for most applications. Fully Dimmable, the unit is also able provide uniform, high quality illumination at lower light levels. Fixed Color Temperature units (2700K, 3200K, 4300K, 5600K and 6500K) are available using remote phosphor technology. These S60-RP (Remote Phosphor) and S30-RP units are both brighter, and less expensive than the –C color tunable versions. For versatility, Remote Phosphor panels can be swapped to achieve full brightness in the fixed color temperature of your choice.
